Guide to Vauxhall

More to Vauxhall than meets the eye

a rich cultural history and story

FROM FALKES HALL
TO VAUXHALL

Graphite Square stands on the historic grounds where Vauxhall was first conceived. Dating back to the 13th century, Vauxhall originated from Falkes de Breaute’s estate, Falkes’ Hall, which later evolved into Fox Hall and eventually Vauxhall.

FROM PLEASURE GARDENS
TO PODIUM GARDENS

In the 17th century, the area was home to Spring Gardens, later known as Vauxhall Gardens, a vibrant hub of refreshment, entertainment, and art. Today, Graphite Square draws inspiration from this tradition with its podium gardens, creating modern communal green spaces.

FROM Industrial Heritage
TO Architectural Influence

In the 19th century, Vauxhall’s landscape featured Victorian railway viaducts and factory sites, including Horatio Myers’ renowned bed factory, which operated from 1876 to 1982 on the very grounds of Graphite Square. The development echoes this industrial heritage with robust materials and a distinct sawtooth roofline.

Connect to the Very
Best of London

Connectivity is key, and Vauxhall does not disappoint. With a major transport interchange offering underground, rail, and bus services, Graphite Square is a gateway to London and beyond.

Green Spaces on Your Doorstep

One of the greenest cities in the world, Graphite Square offers easy access to some of London’s beautiful green spaces. All just a short walk from your home, enjoy leisurely strolls through Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, visits to Vauxhall City Farm, or relaxing afternoons in Archbishop’s Park and Vauxhall Park.
